Elique's mission is to offer a more organic and preventative approach to skin
and body care. Because the skin is on the external it is our most complex organ.
So busy, it splits its time between protecting our inner organs, excreting
toxins, shedding, regulating the body's temperature and endocrine functioning
and fighting off outside elements, many of which are toxic pollutants. It is
crucial to have strong surface immunity if you hope to achieve radiant skin and
Elique helps accomplish this by feeding the skin nourishing foods that
strengthen its surface immunity. This allows for the development of a healthy
protective barrier, safeguarding the skin form harsh external elements and
consequently allowing one to have a truly balanced skin for life.
Elique is a hand made artisan line of product made solely with foods. Our core
ingredients are personally hand harvested organic herbs from an exclusive garden
deep inside Santa Monica Canyon, certified organic, wild-crafted, and biodynamic
hydrosols (essential waters) organic and solvent free extracted nut and
vegetable oils and local farmer's market honeys. Because we emphasize the use of
quality ingredients and they are integral to Elique's efficacy we never
compromise by using substandard and synthetic components. To guarantee this even
further we make sure our aloe-vera is preservative free to avoid other hidden
ingredients in our products.
Our goals are straightforward: be simple, effective, always luxurious, and
affordable. We know in our hearts that it is crucial to have available healthy
and affordable skin care for everyone of all economic backgrounds.
Finally, Elique chooses to be a sought after product, found only in the most
special boutiques and skin care studios that share our same core values. We
believe by not mass producing our line, we can maintain the quality that is our
standard and also leave less of a smaller carbon footprint on our planet. We can
truly say we are absolutely 100% authentic in everything that we do. This will
never change. We promise you that!
Many things happened along the way to challenge Elisha's determination. She was
an independent young woman in New York City surviving the daily grind by
bartending and waiting tables. Elisha is a fantastic cook and in 1993 she
started catering on the side and before she knew it, she had a full-fledged
on-location catering business. This time was key for an entrepreneur and Elisha
learned the most valuable lessons that she applied in all of her future
endeavors.
However, Elisha never forgot about Elique. Her catering accomplishments made her
family proud but Elisha was not happy. Her heart was with Elique and she knew
she had to honor that. It was the day Princess Diana was killed and Elisha was
exhausted preparing craft service for a Tommy Hilfiger shoot and watching the
Diana coverage on television. Seeing Diana, her time cut short... Elisha knew
that
life was too precious and it was time to realize her dreams. Tommy Hilfiger was
Elisha's last client and she didn't look back.
Re-entering the skin care market was a test of Elisha's flexibility and
creativity. Could she contemporize her initial business and marketing plans?
This natural segment had grown tremendously in five years and Elisha felt a
slight panic, but she took a deep breath and knew she would overcome this
challenge. She scoured the market knowing that her "in" would be in satisfying
the ignored demographic. It didn't take long for her to realize that there were
no products for pregnant women and right away she had a flood of ideas. The next
three years she designed an Elique line of skin care especially for pre and
postnatal women.
In 2002 Elisha became licensed in esthetics and moved to Los Angeles. After two
years working with clients and a host of skin conditions Elisha began using
Elique in her treatments. Her clients loved them and one in particular
appreciated them so much that she invited Elisha to use her organic garden in
Santa Monica Canyon to harvest all the lavender, mint, bay and eucalyptus for
the line. Elisha had dreamed of using local and fresh organic herbs to give
Elique a solid competitive edge and allow it to be truly authentic. This
exclusive access to the garden was the thing that would do just that.
In line with Elisha's passion to educate the public on the harms of mass
produced skin care she published Skin and Spa, a cutting edge newsletter devoted
entirely to skin health and wellness, taught classes on making your own skin
care from foods and has spoken to groups about avoiding chemical laden skin
care. She has also produced many charity spa days for underprivileged teens and
adults.
In 2007 Elisha opened Get Waxed, a boutique waxing salon where respect for the
environment, the immediate community and offering only non toxic skin and body
care are a few of their core values. Elique Organic Skin Food is showcased as
our exclusive line and in over two years it has become extremely established and
sought after.
Elisha does not believe in limits or impossibilities. She continues to dream,
work hard and manifest her vision for Elique to set standards in the beauty
industry. Knowing Elisha, she will do that and more. It is just a matter of
time.
